Who are we?
COLORLIT aims to be a space for all students of color in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee community. The group creates a concrete space on campus to foster both academic and non-academic discussions around the varied experiences of students of color--both domestic and international students--and urgent matters relating to race, gender, caste, class, disability, sexuality, and immigration status in the country, and across the globe. Therefore, the group's topics of focus are intersectional in nature and strive to represent diverse forms of experience through its discussion circles. Some of our immediate goals are to host cultural, social, and educational events catering to literatures of color across the globe. This group also aims to acknowledge the specificity of the experiences of students of color in UWM.
