Disability Race and Gender in Humanities Pedagogy | February 20th, 2024
This event looks at the intersection of disability, race and gender in the university, and way pedagogy is shaped to accommodate these intersectional identities of marginalization. We will have a conversation about the classroom and the university at large as historically a space for exclusion. It would reflect on the important ways that we make the classroom accessible, and how intersectional marginalization can be accommodated. This aims to be a conversation starter particularly centering disability in POC and Queer Spaces, and how all three of these intersect in the classroom. What are some pedagogical issues that remain consistent? Is there a new way to think about the same? Is there a way to approach our pedagogy with radical intersectionality, of race, gender and disability. How do we formulate the ‘space-safe’ within this intersectionality?
